Make the heritage train part of a day exploring Zipaquirá and its underground salt cathedral.
Board Turistren at the booked Gran Estación rail platform or Usaquén stop in Bogotá → Zipaquirá; connect by local road transport to the Salt Cathedral.
The public tourist train runs on weekends and Colombian holidays; reserve ahead and verify the boarding stop. Sabana is a ticket office, not the current departure point; arrange the cathedral-to-station return separately.
Confirm rail boarding support and underground-route suitability; the optional station-to-cathedral bus does not provide the return leg.
Take a guided walk to a highland lake associated with Muisca ceremony and the El Dorado story.
Bogotá → Sesquilé via Autopista Norte, then the signed approach to Parque Laguna Cacique de Guatavita by booked vehicle.
Check CAR's park opening and entry arrangements, book return transport, and recheck weather; the lake is outside Guatavita town.
The trail climbs at high altitude and includes steps; ask the park about its current route demands before booking.
